5 Perfume Ingredients To Be Aware Of!

We all love clean air, and many of us also love perfume!
While we all love to smell great, you might want to take a deeper look when selecting a perfume or cologne. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency came up with a shocking list of potentially hazardous materials found in certain fragrances. In fact...20 common perfume ingredients are actually part of the EPA's Hazardous Waste list!
Here are the top 5 perfume ingredients that can potentially be health no-nos.
Acetone - Commonly found in colognes, this substance acts as a depressant for your central nervous system. The result? Potential nausea, vomiting, dryness of the mouth cavity and slurred speech.
Formaldehyde - When inhaled or when present within the environment, this nasty chemical can irritate the lining of your nose and throat. This results to itchy eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat - the so-called respiratory tract irritation.
Benzyl Acetate - A carcinogenic substance present in every spritz, this can cause respiratory tract irritation and a CNS depressant for humans. If you are exposed to it on a daily basis, you might have a higher chance of developing pancreatic cancer or damaged kidneys.
Ethanol vapors - Inhaling of ethanol vapors can give you symptoms like indigestion - feeling bloated and having stomach discomforts. In addition to this, it can cause slow breathing and passing out. If you are exposed to it for long periods of hours, it can slowly damage your brain. Sheesh!
This is why it is important to have an air-filter (and one reason why we created the EcoQube Air) - so you could filter our potentially harmful substances found in the air!

Today, we have some great news to share with you…
We’ve come up with a new concept for the EcoQube Air’s grow tray. To help stabilize grow plugs, we’ve designed a new grow tray to make it easier to place plant mediums in and keep the plants from falling over once they get bigger.
Pretty cool, right?
So, interested in what indoor plants can do for you?
Here are three ways indoor plants can become your sidekick:
1. Plants Make You Productive (No, Really!)
If you find yourself slacking and wasting time on nothing? It might be time to revamp your office or your desktop. A study from Dr. Chris Knight published in The Guardian explored how plants can liven up the workspace.
This study headed by Knight revealed that employees become 15% more productive when their boring workplaces are filled with some houseplants.
But that's not all!
2. Plants Can Be Your Happy Pill
If you are feeling a little down and feeling bluer than blue, greens are actually a great way to boost your mood.
Numerous studies have proven the plant's ability to minimize stress and negative thinking, easing emotional and mental fatigue. It also increases your productivity and clears your brain fogs.
Having a piece of nature on your own living room can liven up your mood and increase your cortisol levels.
A study back in 2015 proved that exposure and interaction with indoor plants can reduce your stress. These plants help suppress toiling of your sympathetic nervous system and diastolic blood pressure. With that said, keeping plants indoors chills you out better than a Netflix marathon.
3. Indoor Plants Are Known To Reduce Anxiety
Whether you are moving on from a tragic break-up, nearing childbirth, or recovering from a surgery, keeping indoor plants near you is a healthy remedy.
A 2008 study from the Kansas State University studied 90 patients who have undergone an appendectomy and found out that patients with plants in their room feel less anxious and are more positive during their recovery.
If you want a feeling of relief from a long day of work, keeping a houseplant would be such a great way to de-stress!

Earlier, we had a few technical difficulties and our EcoQube C+ product update accidentally was sent your way.
Thanks so much for your patience and quickly alerting us to this occurrence!
Don’t worry, we’ve still got ya covered and will be providing you with something that many of you have been asking about
Transplanting soil-based plants into your EcoQube Air!
Ever had a plant in your garden that you wanted to grow hydroponically? Well, now you can! (Just make sure they’re suitable for hydroponic systems)
Materials Needed:
Small potted plant (no more than 10 inches in height)
Small container of water EcoQube Air grow tray
Pebbles
Optional: decorative rocks
Steps:
Take your potted plant outside.
Gently pull the potted plant out of its plastic container.
Brush off the soil off the roots outside. The more soil you remove, the better. Be careful not to damage the roots.
Bring the plant back inside and rinse the roots in water. Tap water is fine. Make sure that there are not traces of soil left on the roots. Soil will damage the pump in the EcoQube AIR.
Place your plant into the EcoQube AIR grow tray.
Secure the plant by putting the pebbles on top of the roots. You can also use the optional decorative rocks for positioning.
Once the plant stands up straight, you are ready to place it back in the EcoQube AIR.
Enjoy your own created scenery in your EcoQube AIR.
Take your potted plant outside.
Pretty simple process, right?
If you don’t know what plants to get started with, you might want to consider trying out the Golden Pothos. This plant is also known as the Devil’s Ivy and is one of the easiest plants to take care of. It looks beautiful and is one of the best air-filtering plants according to NASA.
Another suggestion would be a Victorian Parlor Palm. Similar to the Golden Pothos, the Parlor Palm is also rather easy to maintain and is also great for beautifying your living space!
Transplanting soil-based plants into the EcoQube Air has helped make our living spaces much more diverse and beautiful, and so we, of course, wanted to share this new knowledge with all of you!

How ya’ll doing?
Lately, we've been making TONS of product improvements for the EcoQube C+ and can’t wait to begin manufacturing.
So, wanna learn more of what we've been up to with the C+? Here are some rad updates!
Are you a fan of the waterfall that comes with the C+? Well, we’ve re-designed it to better fit the glass cover and help keep water flow strong over time.
Pretty cool, right? That’s not all that we’ve improved!
We’ve also made the brace holding the waterfall section upright stronger to keep your C+ more stable ;)
And above, you’ll find something known as a “pre-filter” which goes on top of the bag of activated carbon.
Activated carbon? That’s the bag that helps take care of your fish waste while your C+ is new and still building up beneficial bacteria (the bacteria that converts your fish waste into plant food).
We’ve heard your thoughts on the EcoQube C’s bag of activated carbon, and have added a string attached to the bag allowing you to easily remove it if need be. Simply lift up the pre-filter piece and gently pull up on the red string.
Excited to receive your C+? We’re finalizing change and getting ready to move into manufacturing.
