about 7 years ago – Mon, Aug 21, 2017 at 06:14:29 PM

Hey Lovely Backers!

It's been more than 6 months since we've had our own EcoQube Airs in our office in San Diego, but looking at the plants encapsulated in the clear glass of the Air has been something we haven't grown tired of yet.

We recently got a few new plants in the office for a change of scenery and to test how well they grow in the Air.

Take a look!

Hey Kickstarter Backers!

As promised, here are all the changes we’ve made as we’ve gone through revisions to the app.

Test Run
Test Run

Changes to the app (for both IOS & Android):

-Added resume schedule button to scheduling page.

-Pressing the scheduling button also resumes the schedule -Added a ‘Off’ function to the humidifier settings.

-Links to our Facebook and Instagram page on the information tab now open to the correct pages in Safari

If you happen to find a bug in the app, please e-mail us at [email protected] with your phone version (iOS or Android + version #) along with screens of what you are seeing.

We are going to continually update the app and release another update if needed.

Before you exit your app, remember to tap “Resume Schedule.” If you press the Scheduling button, your AIR will also resume schedule.

A resume schedule button was added to this page as well. The trash can button for you to delete certain modes is moved to the bottom of the scheduling circle.

An ‘Off’ button is added in the Humidifier settings.

If you don’t see the EcoQube in this page, please tap the ‘Refresh’ button. Also, if you see that an EcoQube is connected but you don’t have a response from your AIR, please tap the ‘Refresh’ button.

We hope these changes add to the simplicity of using the app. Keep sending those photos of your Air to us for a chance to be featured on our Instagram!

In honor of Earth Week, we're giving you a limited time offer to get the EcoQube C which we also launched on Kickstarter for a super, super discounted price!!

It is originally $139.99, but with this secret code, you can get it for under $100 & save $40! Cheers to celebrating nature and sustainability!

Shipping Update! We're Getting Close!
over 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 18, 2017 at 06:59:53 PM

Hey Kickstarter Backers!

Most of you have received your Airs by now, but for those of you that haven’t, here’s a quick update!

All submissions made on time are 100% complete for North America. Backers who made late submissions on Backerkit surveys should be receiving their orders this week. If any North American backers have not received their Airs by the end of this week, please contact Evan at info@aquadesigninnovations and he will be glad to help make sure you get your Air!

For international backers, we apologize on the behalf of our fulfillment partners in Hong Kong for the delays. We know many of you in SE Asia have received your EcoQube Airs and they will continue rolling out from Hong Kong.

Although there have been roadblocks with our international fulfillment partners, we’ve strategized a new plan for international fulfillment that will ensure all of you will receive your EcoQube Airs once and for all!

Once the plan is confirmed by our fulfillment partners (end of this week), we will send you an email with the status of your EcoQubes!

We are super stoked that many of you have put your Airs to use as a functional decoration. Please continue sharing your photos by tagging us @designadi_ or #ecoqube on Instagram. We love seeing your photos!

Thank you for all of you that have provided feedback on the product. We are lucky to have a community of backers like you that responds in sharing how you’ve been benefiting from the Air and letting us know how we can continually improve.

We are committed to bringing this campaign to a quality close and building connections with each one of you.

From just a few of you:

Congratulations on the EcoQube Air. It turned out beautiful.- ELLEN

I must say this is quite a wonderful unit! i can't wait for my fertilizer and seeds to come so i can get started! - PETER

Please keep sending us your feedback and tag us @designadi_ or #ecoqube so we can feature your photos!

After completing manufacturing and performing extensive long-term testing, we learned through multiple user testing that condensation from the greenhouse can drip into the electronics. This could affect the circuit system, as excessive water would reach the connector (electronics plug) and damage it. We recognized this as a potential user error as dripping can cause damage to the product, so we brainstormed a solution which you may recall from our past Kickstarter update

We invested extra funds into creating an expensive new mold for the sole purpose of making a silicon cover to go over the connector to protect it from water. Our hope was and is to prolong the life of the unit, eliminating potential water damage.

We left a slit in the middle of the silicon cover, so that when you place the greenhouse on the base, the connector would allow the circuit to run (or your fan and light to turn on).

Sometimes a bit of the silicone cover gets sandwiched in between the electrical connection of the base and the greenhouse, preventing a good connection.

In the case that your connector doesn’t seem to be working, simply wiggle the silicon cover a bit or reinsert the greenhouse to get it to work.

After you reinsert the greenhouse into your base, adjust your settings according to what you want for your EcoQube AIR on your app. Then, please press “Resume Schedule” in the Schedule app before exiting the app. These changes will be reflected in a week. Keep an eye out for an app update in next two weeks!

Understanding the Fogger:

The EcoQube Air comes with an App guide that we encourage you to utilize. As it's described on the app guide, the EcoQube Air is programmed to turn on in 30 second intervals then turn off to avoid build-up of humidity, while still adding moisture into the Air.

Details for each Humidifier setting described on the app guide:

Low setting: 30 seconds every 2 hours

Regular setting (default): 30 seconds every 30 minutes

Humid Setting: 30 seconds every 15 minutes

Initially, the fogger had just one setting, at very high level. However, a 3rd party engineering and product testing group recommended that we lower the fogger setting so we followed their recommendation.

After extended product testing (which usually isn't performed in most Kickstarter products), the fans and electronics in the EcoQube began deteriorating due to excessive humidity. We did not want that to happen to your EcoQube.

If you want to increase the amount of fog in the greenhouse for aesthetics, simply increase the fan setting to high (detox setting). We did our very best to build it in a way where it still performs, but does not compromise the long term durability of the product.

If after multiple tries the connector is not working, please contact us at [email protected] for product support and my colleague Justen will happily assist you!

As you setup your EcoQube Air, please share your photos by e-mail, on Facebook, or tag us on Instagram@designadi_so we can see how you are enjoying your living decor!

Cheers,

Anna

BetterBack Therapy: Improve Posture + Back Pain

How’s your posture right now? Probably not too great. BetterBack Therapy is perfect if you're stuck sitting or have back pain. It holds you effortlessly in perfect posture and makes it easy to heat or ice your back if it starts acting up (it's been called a hot tub for your back!). Wearing it for just 15 minutes a day retrains your default posture so when you stand or sit without it, your posture is greatly improved. It also fits in a purse/bag so you can whip it out and make every chair ergonomic, from your desk to an airplane or even on the floor while you meditate. The reviews are amazing — you have to check it out for yourself.

Who Needs Pokémon Go When You Got a Kokedama? + Shipping Update!
over 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 24, 2017 at 07:50:38 PM

Good Evening Kickstarter Backers!

Shipping update: International shipments should resume end of next week. Our fulfillment center in Hong Kong has had some difficulty sourcing packaging materials and is updating their software systems to reduce human error. Initially, they didn’t require barcodes, but have since included them to make it easier to track the inventory. This will take some time to place on all the packages, but we have been in constant communication with them to ensure that the shipments are sent out as soon as possible. We hope your Air will delivered to you in a safe condition and will prioritize proper packaging. We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive more information, as we are just as excited as you are to start using your Air!

Kokedama Tips: We know that many of you have ordered Kokedama plants to go with your Air. Kokedama plants are houseplants that not only fit well with the ambiance of your home, but act to filter the air your breathe. House plants help to remove carcinogens like formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene from the air We’ve received requests from you asking about the maintenance and care of these plants, so we have done further research to provide just that for you.

We have been working with Kanako from KodamaForest on Etsy, which you can check out here. She has extensive experience growing and caring for Kokedama style plants, Kokedama is a Japanese method of growing a plant without using any kind of pot. Grown out of moss balls, these Kokedama plants resemble the cutest Pokemons! To learn about Kokedama check out our blog post.

The two varieties that you have ordered are the Schleffera, which you can read about on our blog, and the Parlor Palm.

As you may have noticed, Kanako has provided instructions for care, which we will further elaborate on.

From Kanako: When your Kokedama plant arrives in the mail, check your plant and provide care for it to adjust to your environment. It has been watered enough to keep moist before it was shipped, but through the shipping process, it may be subject to harsher environmental conditions. Water the moss ball lightly if the plant looks like it needs hydration. When you dip the moss ball in water, it may produce a green color which is normal to the plant. In about 4-6 months the moss may turn into a brownish color. If you like the look of a green moss ball, simply mix green food coloring with water and spray it on the moss ball.

To use your Kokedama plant with the Air app, simply: Set the pump setting to "Low" (for kokedama) so that the kokedama is watered for 5 minutes only once per week.

If you have a schleffera plant:

Watering-The schleffera tolerates dry conditions and requires minimal to moderate moisture to survive. Simply water it through the app kokedama pump setting. Then, once every other day, put mist on the leaves if you see that it is dried up.

Climate (lighting): medium light, indirect light

If you have a parlor palm:

Watering-The parlor palm will also do well an incubated greenhouse like the Air, but it does require more moisture than the schleferra. Again, use the Kokedama pump setting on the app, but spray mist on the leaves every day. Within a week of adding your Kokedama to the Air, you should be able to tell if it needs more moisture, as it will start to brown.

Climate(lighting)- medium to bright light, similar to the schleffera

General tips for both Kokedama plants:

Trimming- Research the plant and how it grows, to determine if trimming is something you should do. We suggest that if the Kokedama plants reaches a point in which it is getting too large for the Air, to take it out and allow it space to grow taller. However, if the plant gets taller and reaches to the wall of the EcoQube, you can lightly trim the taller leaves, cut the tips of the leaves, or carefully trim the roots and it may grow back slowly. As the owner of this plant, please check up on the health of the plant to see what steps will be best.

Do not overwater the plant: Refrain from over watering the plant as the roots may be flooded and start to rot, causing the plant to lose strength. If you notice yellowing in the leaves, that may be a sign of overwatering. How long does the Kokedama usually last? With proper care, the plant may last up to two years. When you see the roots coming out of the Kokedama excessively, this is when you can transfer it to a bigger pot for a better aesthetic look.

We wish you all the best with your Kokedama and hope that it will be happy and healthy under your loving care! For easy access, this post will be up on our blog shortly as well.

 Cheers,

Anna
